WWDC24 dates and format
Apple held Worldwide Developers Conference 2024 from June 10 to 14. The keynote took place at Apple Park on June 10. Developer sessions ran online through the week. See Apple’s WWDC24 highlights for the recap.
What reports expected from iOS 18
Before the keynote, reports predicted a major iOS update. They also expected new AI tools, Siri changes, and RCS in Messages. Other software rumors
Before the event, reports expected updates to Apple’s other operating systems. They mentioned changes to multitasking, writing tools, health apps, and Vision Pro. Apple did not announce every prediction.
AI and Siri predictions
Many reports expected Apple to add AI tools to its software and update Siri. Tim Cook discussed Apple’s AI work in February 2024. He said, “We continue to invest a tremendous amount of time and effort in AI, and we’re excited to share the details of our ongoing work in this space later this year.”
Some reports predicted major changes to Siri. One named Apple’s internal AI model, MM1. Apple had not confirmed those reports before WWDC24. For confirmed news, see its Apple Intelligence release.
Possible hardware announcements
Reports also speculated about new Macs, AirPods, and wider Vision Pro availability. Apple had not announced these products in this May 2024 preview.
